Our Fees

At Southall Chambers, we aim to provide clear and transparent fee structures tailored to the needs of each case. Barristers’ fees vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the matter, the experience and seniority of the barrister, the time required for preparation, and the duration of court or tribunal hearings.

How We Charge

• Fixed Fees: For hearings, conferences, and certain types of advisory work, we can often agree on a fixed fee in advance. This provides clarity and predictability in costs.
• Hourly Rates: For cases involving extensive preparation, reading, or drafting, fees may be charged on an hourly basis. Hourly rates range from £150 for junior barristers to £500 for senior members of Chambers, with most work falling within £200 to £250 per hour plus VAT.
• Court Representation: For court appearances, half-day fees start from £450 plus VAT, and full-day fees from £800 plus VAT. For multi-day or more complex hearings and trials, we provide bespoke quotes depending on the nature and length of the case.

Direct Access Work

We accept instructions directly from individuals, businesses, and organisations under the Public Access Scheme. While this can streamline costs, it does not qualify for legal aid. Fees for Direct Access cases are agreed upon in writing before any work begins.

Fee Agreements

All fees are confirmed in writing prior to the commencement of work, ensuring transparency and mutual understanding. In complex or evolving cases, we may provide staged quotes or estimates for each phase of work.

CFA Work

Please note that Southall Chambers does not accept instructions on a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA) basis.
